8. Policy Implications

8. Implications for U.S. policy:

Because Solar Bitcoin Mining is a market driven solution, it relies less on policy. However, we feel the best policy efforts will be focused on supporting the natural growth of both the solar energy and bitcoin mining industries.

In the United States, the energy generation industry is still primarily managed by large utility companies that also control the grid and advocate for state and federal policies that protect their profits and markets.

In states like California and Arizona with large solar resources, some odd policies are in place that restrict free market incentives that would allow individuals, companies, and organizations from harnessing the full benefits of the free renewable energy from the sun - something that should be an equitable human right for everyone.

It's common sense that the functionality of the grid needs to be re-imagined and re-designed if every home, business, and utility becomes a solar energy generator instead of just an energy consumer. A grid that was designed to deliver energy in a "top-down" manner, now needs to be flipped and deliver energy in a "bottom-up" manner.

As we discussed in the brief, total electricity generation in the country is 4,000 TWh per year, and we're going to need a minimum of 25,000 TWh of clean electricity within 15 years, so utilities and grid operators will still be able to invest and grow.

In addition, homeowners and business owners will also need to invest in personal and commercial solar generation and storage incentivized by Solar Bitcoin Mining in order for our country to meet or exceed our sustainability goals.

There is plenty of room for everyone to share in the upside growth in clean solar energy. In the future, the only difference is that utility companies won't be able to be monopolies. We'll have more energy independence, safety, and equitability. This is a win-win for everyone.

Policies that block or inhibit this natural, free market growth of solar energy in any way should be re-written or removed at state and national levels. Laws that dictate how someone's solar generated electricity can or should be used, should be reversed. Additional laws known as a "Solar Access Law" that might attempt to preserve property owners' rights to use the exposure from the sun, should be modified to maximize solar access rights for individuals.

Funding for government research or public universities could also go toward further improvements in photovoltaics, batteries, and ASIC chips to keep industry growth on pace.

If the United States can foster the growing Bitcoin industries and ecosystems, everyone will benefit.

The focus of the government should be to facilitate the creation of incentives to accelerate the adoption of 100% sustainable energy generation. There is probably no single greater economic accelerator than the Solar Bitcoin mining incentive.
