We are pleased to submit our comments and ideas for this RFI as a collaboration with people in the open Bitcoin community of more than 300 million people around the world who are helping make bitcoin more intuitive and accessible through participation and innovation, and Resilience, an impact agency that builds resilient companies and communities for the future, now.
We believe there is a unique opportunity to show how an innovative solution, centered around Bitcoin, can be implemented immediately across a broad range of use cases to make it possible to exceed our climate goals.
The Bitcoin community includes developers, visual artists, core team members of leading bitcoin organizations, and more. Resilience is a consulting team of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) experts who are leaders in sustainability, design, communications, compliance and strategy. This is a powerful combination of experience and insights drawn from real, in-depth work in both Bitcoin development and climate justice.
To have any valuable discussions on the intersection of climate goals and digital assets, we believe it is imperative that OSTP ensures that experts working in those areas are collaborating and maintaining a solutions-focused mindset in order to reach our collective goals. Organizations simply putting forth facts and figures of ‘what is’ right now, will not get us to ‘what could be’ - which is precisely where we need to move as a nation, and as a world.
In order to meet or exceed the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, we need to truly innovate in the sustainable energy space and create new solution models beyond what is seen today.
We hope that our response paints a vivid enough picture for you to see how Solar bitcoin mining is one of the most impactful opportunities to end the climate crisis, because it can dramatically accelerate the payback and adoption of solar energy installations in a way that maybe no other solution can.
